How Many Times Will She Say Surprise?

Hey guys! Guess what? It’s finally Friday!

And just so you know, since I had today off work, I took it upon myself to test out the weekend for you…FYI, it’s gonna be a good one! ;)

The other day, I was thinking about surprises and how much I LOVE them!

Of course, I prefer the good surprises…I think I’d be pretty upset with an air pie!

Surprises like:

Coming home to see my lawn seeded and strawed!

Finally! It only took 2.5 months…grr!

Grow little grass seeds! Grow!

Getting not one, not two, but THREE packages in the mail on the same day!

Woo hoo!

First up: the biggest jar of coconut oil I’ve ever seen
sent to me by Tropical Traditions!

I can’t wait to try this brand!

My prize for winning Lindsey’s Stonyfield giveaway!

Fa-fa-fa-free!

And finally a little something special from one of my favorite readers!

Thanks Missy!

Sometimes the best surprises start out as accidents:

Like getting a little heavy-handed on the carob powder atop my overday oats

Um, yeah…pretty flippin’ delicious!

Or are so gradual that it takes a while to notice:

Thank you Summer(ish) sun for saving me money on makeup!

Au naturel save for a bit of mascara (never leave home without it)!

Or something that really shouldn’t surprise you at all:

Yet ANOTHER combo of BBQ & PB&J!

1/2 cup oats cooked in 1 1/2 cups of water with BBQ seasoning and a whole egg stirred in during the last few minutes of cooking. Topped with PB and FROG preserves!

I figure, if I give you guys enough options, I’ll eventually bring you over to the dark side! ;)

No seriously, we do!

Isn’t that right Jess?

Or sometimes, it’s just someone popping in to say hello!

Speaking of FROG, say hello to my little friend!

But as much as I love getting surprises, I LOVE surprising others even more!

Yep, I gotta surprise for you guys!

But you’ll just have to wait till tomorrow…

Because everybody knows a little suspense makes for an even better

SURPRISE!

;)

Do you like surprises?
If not, PUHlease explain as I have never understood how someone could not enjoy a good surprise!

What’s something that has surprised you recently?

Hmm, howabout one more for good measure?…surprise!

I wanna know your surprise! Can’t wait! Whats surprised me recently? How much I am loving blogging and how welcoming everyone is….I knew everyone was nice but I didn’t know how nice! I need to find that BBQ seasoning, then maybe I will be brave to try your favorite combo! ;)

    • Aww, I’m so happy for you! I was welcomed with open arms too…so much that I almost forget I’ve only been blogging for 6 months! It really is a whole other world!

Check out the spice section of your local grocery store. I got mine at Walmart, but I’ve seen it in many other stores as well! Be brave…give it a whirl!

  7. you’ve got me hook, line and sinker. what could it beeee, what could it be?!
and i agree. everyone needs to be brought over to “the dark side.” i think you’re fueling my obsession lately. In oats?! You’re pretty much amazing.

  8. I LOVE a good surprise! How could you not? I also love pb&J oats! I need to try the BBQ seasoning in it. I haven’t done that yet. I hope you have a great weekend Heather! We are moving to TN this weekend. YIKES! A change is a brewin’ for my family!

  9. I love happy surprises! Three packages on the same day?! That’s super exciting! Hope your grass comes in quickly!

  10. I LOVE getting stuff in the mail! Even if it’s something like a textbook (which is usually the only thing I get, haha) I just get so giddy when I see a package for me!

  11. katie says:

youre SERIOUSLY making me sooo curious about this BBQ and pb and J!

  12. I loooove surprises! I always plan surprise parties for other people because I always figure that I’d love to have one myself! Actually…I never have! Haha. You look beautiful in your au natural pic, so I think summer is definitely the best makeup tool!

  13. I’m SUCH a planner, but a little surprise is never a bad thing. ;) And I definitely love getting packages! Sounds like a wonderful start to your weekend and a great day off!

  14. LOVE surprises!! esp when they are parties!! YAY u got the coconut oil from them too-! ITS HUGE!!!!

  15. I love a good surprise, but I hate being kept in suspense! Grr at you! Share the deets stat!

And I’m enamoured by your somewhat strange oat combo :D I’ve been experimenting with my own odd ones lately, too. Think banana, cottage cheese, avocado/hummus, and jam. Who says you can’t have fun playing with your food? :D

  16. I’m having a big fat dose of air pie in the form of a crap surprise of sorts this morning. I am not the biggest fan of surprises, but only because I like instant gratification! ;)

  17. Of course I love suprises! I also love getting free stuff in the mail! ;-)
Can’t wait to hear what you think of the coconut oil…I’ve been dying to try some!

  18. that is the craziest oatmeal combo i think i have ever heard! but it just begs me to try it… hmm…
this is why i love your blog, you are always thinking outside the box on your eats! keep it coming!

  19. Ma Ma Megan says:

    omg that frog scared me!
barbeque pb&j oats? my goodness you are obsessed :P

I only like surprises when I don’t know they are coming. If someone says “i have a surprise coming for you” I’ll just get angry ;)

  20. spectacuLAUR says:

I love surprises! I love the feeling you get when someone scares you. It’s an intense amount of fright than a complete 180 to laughter and it’s 10xs more powerful!

I would definitely have named that frog and had a full on convo with it before trying to catch it and have Elmo run around the kitchen after it.

  21. olivetorun says:

Ha! I love the “how many times will she say surprise” thing… it reminds me of the movie Because I Said So and how many times she uses the word GREAT.

  22. I loved this post! So fun. I make oatmeal concoctions, too- you never know what’s going to turn out to be super good! :)
